1973 Torino

The Ford Torino is a car produced by the Ford Motor Company for the North American market between 1968 and 1976. For 1973 the Torino was for the most part unchanged from the 1972 model year. The most obvious change the 1973 model saw was a new front fascia, required to meet new federal regulations.

At what point can a car go to the Smithsonian?

Written by 73 Torino Guide on August 30th, 2011

I have a 1973 Ford Gran Torino with 525,000 miles on the origional engine and transmission. The car has been maintained and taken care of well. I bought the car with 115,000 miles on it from my uncle and I put the rest on it. The car is still in relatively good shape with some lower door panel rust, but no other forms of rust on it. Should I try to submit it to the smithsonian, should I write to Ford?

Your car has no historical significance. Now, if you were to come up with a car that has three MILLION miles on it, like the guy with the Volvo P1800, that might be a different story.
